The “Writing is Not a Hobby” campaign grew out of the belief that Vancouver Film School’s one-year Writing for Film & Television program is the most intense and meaningful experience an emerging screenwriter can have. The aggressive tone matches the demanding curriculum (to which I can attest as a graduate). In Winter/Spring 2011, this ad ran in Script magazine and later in Creative Screenwriting magazine.

Designed by graphic designer extraordinaire, Asa Cederholm, the campaign has (so far) featured two “hobbies” — stamp collecting and embroidery. Visit vfs.com/notahobby for the current design.

Hanna is a feature film starring Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett, and Eric Bana, written by VFS Writing for Film & Television graduate Seth Lochhead. In Spring 2011, this ad ran in The Georgia Straight and Creative Screenwriting magazine. Also designed by graphic designer extraordinaire, Asa Cederholm.
